(9/14/07 Chico, CA) The Pleasant Valley varsity football team had no troubles in taking a 43-14 win over Eureka in a non-league contest Friday at Asgard Yard.

A 36-yard completion to Mycal Swaim gave the Vikings a first down at the Loggers' 34-yard line. On the next play, Cody McHargue made his way to the 1-yard line. Taylor Johnson then bowled his way into the end zone for the first touchdown of the evening. The extra-point attempt was no good, so PV had an early 6-0 lead.

McHargue's 13-yard gain on the Vikings' next possession moved them to the Eureka 32-yard line. He later added 24 yards to set up a first and goal at the 4-yard line. Two plays later, McHargue crossed the goal line for a touchdown. Augie Heath kicked the extra point to put Pleasant Valley ahead 13-0.

Brandon Nickas' 51-yard run with less than two minutes left in the first quarter moved the Vikings to the Loggers' 1-yard line. On the next play, Nickas plowed his way across the Eureka defense for a touchdown. Heath made the extra point to give PV a 20-0 advantage as time wound down in the first.

Midway through the second quarter, the Loggers started their drive at their 48-yard line. Faced with a third and 11, quarterback Jimmee Jessee lost five yards on a sack. However, D.J. Parris helped Eureka get the ball back on a fumbled punt return on the Vikings 28-yard line. A catch by Trevor Hash set up a first and goal at the 2-yard line. The drive ended with Kendall Cobine scoring the Loggers' first touchdown. The extra point was added to trim Pleasant Valley's lead to 20-7.

Nickas returned the ensuing kickoff to the end zone, but the play was nullified due to a penalty. The Vikings would start their drive at the Eureka 40-yard line. McHargue then gained 20 yards for a first down at the 20-yard line. The drive ended when Heath kicked a 23-yard field goal with 23 seconds left in the first half as PV extended its lead to 23-7.

Nickas' punt return allowed the Vikings to start their first possession of the second half at the Loggers' 39-yard line. Two plays later, McHargue gained 27 yards to set up a first and goal at the 8-yard line. McHargue finished off the drive with 7:25 remaining in the third quarter by running four yards for a touchdown. Heath missed the extra point, so Pleasant Valley's lead stood at 29-7.

A fumble recovery by Josh Courtain allowed the Vikings to regain possession at the Eureka 22-yard line. Nickas' nine-yard gain set up a first and goal at the 5-yard line. Two plays later McHargue plowed his way across the goal line for a touchdown. The extra point was good to allow PV to go up 36-7.

The Vikings took over possession at midfield on Sean Reynolds' interception. From there, Jeremy Gagnebin gained 20 yards to move them to the Loggers' 30-yard line. Jimmy Aguilar capped off the drive with a 26-yard touchdown run with 2:51 remaining in the third quarter. Heath added the extra point as Pleasant Valley was now ahead 43-7.

Facing a third down and 3, Houston Seddon gained four yards to set up a first and goal at the 9-yard line. The Pleasant Valley defense then denied the Loggers three chances to score. Finally on fourth and goal, Jordan Davis found his way into the end zone. The extra point was added to cut Eureka's deficit to 43-14.
