The Willows boys’ varsity basketball team remained undefeated in league play, 7-0, and improved their record to 13-8 with a 55-24 thrashing of visiting Rio Vista.

The Honkers clinched a tie for the league championship but have set their sights higher. "We want to go undefeated in conference and have some home playoff games," said Willows coach Darrell Schonauer.

Rio Vista could not withstand a 25-1 barrage by the Honkers to start the game and it wasn't until 2:21 left in the first half that the Rams made their first field goal. The half time score was 33-5.

Despite their first half success, Coach Schonauer called off the dogs in the second half. "I didn't want to rub it in, so we worked on things we are going to need later on, like our trap defense."

Willows’ leading scorer was junior Jeff McMahon, with 14, followed by senior Cameron Welker, with 11. The Honkers play host to Durham Tuesday night – a team they beat by two points earlier this season.
