Hamilton City — Hamilton High senior Andrea Jones and her game-high 20 points was more than enough to lead the Lady Braves past East Nicolaus Thursday night, 63-18.

The Braves move on to the Section 5 semi-finals Tuesday versus Durham 7 p.m. at Hamilton.

Ms. Jones, recovering from a cold, was the main spark, behind the Braves rebound from a slow start to leading at halftime 27-10. Hamilton coach Sharon Story said, "We started slow, but the girls caught fire and took it to them." Senior Emily Sidener scored 11 points.

After halftime the rout was on. Coach Story substituted freely in the second half and still held Spartans to eight points the rest of the way. She said, "Once I knew we had things in hand, I felt we should rest the starters to avoid injuries and to get them some rest."

Asked about playing in the next round against opponents they have not faced, Coach Story said, "I get a lot of information off the Internet and I talk to other coaches, it's a pretty small community." Maybe Coach Story could get Andrea Jones a case of the flu next week.
