BOBCAT FROSH GIRLS CONTINUE GOOD FORTUNE

(1/10/07 Chico, CA) The Paradise girls' freshman basketball team added another win by taking a 58-39 decision over Chico Thursday at "The Panther Pit."
 
The Bobcats got the first score of the game 28 seconds in on a bucket by Catharine Rees. Dominique Stall's shot with 4:38 remaining in the first quarter gave the Panthers their first score of the game, but Paradise's lead was 7-2. Brieanna Churchill connected on a hoop with 3:24 to go in the first to give the Bobcats an 11-4 advantage. Bailey Smith hit a basket with 1:42 left in the period as Chico came within five points at 13-8.
 
Paradise opened its second quarter scoring when Kailey Williams nailed a three-pointer with an assist from Jasmine McKay Rogers as the Bobcats pushed their lead to 18-12. Lydia North made one of two free throws for the Panthers with 6:58 remaining in the first half as the deficit stood at 20-13. Hannah Roberts' bucket with 6:02 left in the second gave Paradise a 24-13 lead. Williams' three-point shot in the closing minute of the half moved the Bobcats up by 20 points at 37-17.
 
Paradise picked up where they left off when Rees made a hoop 29 seconds into the third quarter as the lead was extended to 39-17. Stall's basket with 6:41 remaining in the third gave Chico their first score of the half. Rees connected on a shot with 2:38 to go in the third to give the Bobcats a 47-21 advantage. Raeanne Bertagna hit a basket with 1:21 left in the period as the Panthers were down 49-23.
 
Chico earned the first points of the fourth quarter 17 seconds in on Emily Lopez's basket. McKay Rogers responded 11 seconds later with a free throw that put Paradise ahead 52-30. Sam Conroy's bucket with 3:55 left in the game cut the Panthers deficit to 58-35.
 
Paradise was led by a 17-point effort from Roberts. They also got 16 points and four rebounds from Rees, while Churchill added eight points and eight rebounds. Conroy and North each scored nine points for Chico with Conroy collecting 11 rebounds, while Bertagna scored six points.
