Red Bluff — Hamilton senior Craig Lohse rushed for 91 yards and fellow 12th grader Jeff Cavins passed for a touchdown as the Braves demolished an outmanned Mercy High School squad 55-0 Saturday in Red Bluff.

Mercy suited up only 13 players, but according to Hamilton coach Mark Cooley, this didn't deter his team from performing its best.

"A game is a game and the kids played hard and executed well,” he said. “They really wanted to play after a bye week last week. We got to look at some sophomores that we'll use in the playoffs."

Hamilton hosts Williams this Friday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the section playoffs. The Braves beat Williams 31-0 on Oct. 12 on the road.

Coach Cooley said, "The playoffs are a different ballgame; we know we'll be in for a struggle. The week of our first game with Williams, I knew our guys were getting more focused in practice; more of a playoff mentality.”
