WOMEN’S GUEST DAY HELD ATBAYWOOD GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
 

Bayside—Women golfers of all levels, members andnon-members, participated in Baywood Women’s Golf Association’s first annualguest day and Nike trunk show Thursday March 20, 2008.
 
BWGA Captain Cindy Foley summed up the Golf Guest day as, “awonderful way for women golfers in Humboldt County to enjoy the first day ofspring--it was a beautiful day, the course was in good shape, there were a lotof laughs and good times with new and old friends.  We’re excited by thestart of a new golf season and are ready for more great days of golf.'   
 
The event held at Baywood Golf and Country Club began at 9am with a Nike golf club demonstration and clubfitting.  There was a 9-hole scrambletournament which followed shortly after with a shotgun start at 10 o’clock. The tournament consisted of variousthreesomes and foursomes who either came as a team or joined one at the club.
 
The ladies returned to the club house after the tournamentfor a buffet luncheon, the Nike trunk show, and a raffle for two Nike hybridgolf clubs at 12:30.  The winners of the tournament were announcedat the end of lunch and were awarded with credit to spend in the pro-shop.
 
First place was tied between a threesome and a foursome,both ending with the score of 38 on a par 36 course.  The foursome included Lorraine Berkowitz, PatCurry, Martha Vilelle, and Linda Straham. The threesome included Catherine DeBoer, Brenda Lockhart, and EdithJimerson.
 
Second place went to a foursome with the score of 42including Anita Henning, Jana Livingston, Pam Garrett, and Young Mi Kim.
 
Third place was also tied between two foursomes with thescore of 43.  One foursome included LindaMattson, Nancy Viseth, Jan Kellenberg, and Debbie Burke.  The other foursome included Jeanette Pyle,Debra Feeney, Cathy Clayton, and Monica Olson.
 
There was also a closest to the pin competition that wasawarded to Birgitta Portalupi and to Edith Jimerson on the 5thhole.  The closest to the pin in twostrokes on the 8th hole was awarded to Linda Mattson and CatherineDeBoer. The accuracy drive on the 2nd hole was awarded to JeanettePyle and Lorna Denman.
 
The two Nike hybrid gold clubs were raffled off and won byJana Livingston and Lorraine Berkowitz who were both winners of the tournamentas well.
