(3/11/08 Chico, CA) The Foothill varsity baseball team benefited from timely hitting and some mistakes by Chico as they went on to an 11-1 win in an Eastern Athletic League game played Tuesday at Skip McDonald Field.

The Cougars' first scoring opportunity was wiped out in the bottom of the first inning when a strikeout by Torre Swanson left Jaret Bogue stranded at third base. The Panthers were unsuccessful in their half of the first as a groundout by Drew Sullivan-Hames left Austin Prott and Wes Skillicorn on the basepaths. Foothill got its first run of the game in the top of the second inning when Nick Parent came home on a double by John Dobson. They couldn't add on that inning as a flyout by Casey Storme left the bases loaded.

The Cougars lost another scoring chance in the top of the third inning when Shane Cadaret hit into a double play that prevented Casey Robertson from coming home. Foothill was able to get two runs across in the top of the fourth inning. A double by Aaron Crisosto allowed Cole Johnston to come home. Crisosto would score when Storme reached base on a throwing error. Chico couldn't score in their half of the fourth as a groundout by Jordan Kenoyer left Brian Alpert stranded at second base.

The Cougars took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning when Dobson's bases loaded walk allowed Parent to come home. Chase Henry followed suit by making it home on a fielder's choice by Johnston. Josh Crisosto would be the next player to score on a wild pitch during Aaron Crisosto's at bat. Johnston was brought home when Aaron Crisosto reached first base on a throwing error. Aaron would make it home on a single by Storme as Foothill stretched its advantage to 8-0.

The bottom of the fifth was more of the same for the Panthers as a strikeout by Prott left Nolan Atkins stranded at third base. Parent added another run for the Cougars in the top of the sixth inning on a wild pitch while Dobson was at bat. Two more runs were added when Dobson and Johnston reached home as Aaron Crisosto reached first base on a throwing error. Chico earned its lone run in the bottom of the sixth when a single by Eric Loustale allowed Sullivan-Hames to come home. The game ended when Kenoyer struck out, leaving Loustale at second base.

Parent went 3-for-3 for Foothill with a double, two singles, a walk, and scored three times. Dobson was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, two RBIs, and scored once. Prott went 2-for-3 for Chico with two singles. Swanson pitched the entire game for the Cougars, allowing one run, four hits, striking out four, and walking three. Sullivan-Hames was the Panthers' starting pitcher, going 4 1/3 innings, giving up six runs, five hits, striking out five, and walking four.
